Roy Litchenstein (1923-1997)
Roy Lichtenstein is the most famous Pop Art artist in history, most noted for his graphic works known for their bright, catchy colors and images.
During the 1960s, along with his peers Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and James Rosenquist, he became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work was influenced by popular advertising and the comic book style and by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented and in the same breath parodied, often in a tongue-in-cheek manner.
Lovely work from the MOMA museum New York.
